On This Day In Dino-history: March 29, 1973

Hey pallies, likes  the month of March was a the month for our most beloved Dino to officially break the ties with two of his wifes.   As reported a few days ago, it was on March 23, 1949 that our Dino legally finished his marriage with wife numero uno, Elizabeth Anne McDonald.  And, today is the anniversary of his legal partin' of the ways with wife numero duo.  It was on  March 29 in 1973 that our great man officially ended his marriage to Jeanne Biegger.

Dino has originally sought the divorce from Jeanne after he met, while playin' in 'Vegas baby 'Vegas, 21 year old Miss Gail Renshaw. Our most beloved Dino was stunnin'ly 'n swankly smitten by Renshaw, then servin' as Miss USA.

After 'bout six months that amore cooled, and at the point that our Dino's divorce was finalized, Miss Catherine Mae Hawn, a 24 year old beauty parlor receptionist was waitin' in the wings. Our Dino was engaged to Miss Hawn, who would become the third  Mrs. Dean Martin less then a month after our Dino's divorce was finalized from Jeanne.

Likes we truly does find it so interestin' that on the same day of the month of March, but 20 years apart our Dino's richly romantically crooned "Return To Me" in 1953 and then in 1973 legally made it clear that  he was not returnin' to Jeanne.   Likes it is always, always so great to remind ourselves of all these important dates in the life and times of our most most beloved Dino!  Dino-learnin' and growin', DMP

Dean Martin and the Homeless

Hey pallies, likes sometimes the tag of Dino-related post simply grabs you by the heartstrings and won't let go.  Such is today's Dino-devotion taken from "Homeless In The Flathead," the blog of the
Kalispell, Montana  homeless shelter and transitional living program "Samaritan House."

Their October 21, 2014 post, "Dean Martin and the Homeless" accents our main man's main song, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" and asks the powerfully provocative quire, "what if the phrasing was a little different and a space wedged itself between 'some' and 'body'?"

We find it mighty meaningful to have our Dino's famous croon helpin' us as the writer states, "examine how we look at people who make us uncomfortable."  Likes, we know that this prose really has made us both think and feel and ask ourselves how we might reach out to a "some body" in need.

We thanks the people at "Samaritan House" for liftin' up the name of our Dino, but even more for touchin' our hearts and callin' us to action for 'nother.  To checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-message.  Dino-ever, DMP

Dean Martin and the Homeless

The old song croons, "Everybody loves somebody, sometime."

But, what if the phrasing was a little different and a space wedged itself between 'some' and 'body'? The whole idea would be wrecked because the concept changes as somebody becomes some body. And what looks like an autocorrect incident actually redefines the entire concept, forcing us to examine how we look at people who make us uncomfortable. Context is everything when we decide whether to treat people as bodies, just occupying space, or if we can remember they have a past, present, and future.

The single mom in the grocery store.

The the older gentleman in the public library.

The middle-aged woman behind the register taking your order.

Do we view the homeless in our area as mere bodies that melt into the scenery and background? Sometimes it is difficult to adjust our vision and allow ourselves to see others as 'somebodies' instead of some bodies. I don't think we intentionally try to be calloused or mean-spirited but we become so accustomed to the homeless around us, we don't recognize them as people as much as we think of them as being props in the community. We lose sight to the idea of context; each person having their own story and deserving the recognition and dignity we give to others who aren't holding signs at intersections.

And I don't write this from a heightened sense of awareness or judgement. I would love to say this is something I don't struggle with, but that would not be entirely true. No matter who we are, stereotypes and predispositions often cloud our perspectives and we rarely realize it. We become inoculated with the conditions surrounding as we forget others are not statistics, but living, breathing individuals who have their own stories. Society conditions us to place worth on a person's accomplishments and not usually their innate value. We see people as bodies. But how many times have others been gracious to us in times when grace is the last thing we deserve? We are treated as somebody.

We can learn a lot from autocorrect and Dean Martin.

Artist Legacy Group, a Sony Music Entertainment Joint Venture, Named as Global Brand Representative by The Dean Martin Family Trust
ALG to Source Licensing Opportunities and Strategic Partnerships for the Dean Martin Brand

10:15 ET from Artist Legacy Group

NEW YORK, March 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dean Martin Family Trust has appointed Artist Legacy Group, a Sony Music Entertainment joint venture, to act as its global brand representative, it was announced today by ALG CEO Ashley Austin.

ALG will collaborate with the Dean Martin Family Trust to create and maintain cohesive licensing and branding strategies, ensuring the integrity of Dean Martin's singular persona as pop culture's ultimate "King of Cool."

On behalf of the Trust, ALG will source licensing opportunities and strategic partnerships for the Dean Martin brand across a variety of categories including--but not limited to--luxury apparel and accessories, food and beverage, fragrance and skin care, home décor and lifestyle goods.

Under the new arrangement, ALG is positioned to foster the growth of Dean Martin's trademark and personality rights--including his name, likeness and signature--in branded merchandise, endorsements and advertising campaigns.

"ALG will work closely with the Trust to pursue licensing and branding initiatives on behalf of Dean Martin, complementing the projects that the Trust is currently developing," said Austin. "Our mission is to fully serve Dean's existing fanbase while simultaneously introducing him to younger generations of fans who will undoubtedly respond to his timeless class and style."

"The Dean Martin Family Trust is very excited to be working with ALG to continue spreading the excitement and debonair lifestyle of one of the world's most versatile and beloved entertainers," said Laura Lizer, Trustee of the Dean Martin Family Trust.  "His charisma and masculine style has bridged generations and continues to make him the definitive 'King of Cool.'"

Sony Music Entertainment ("SME") and Artist Legacy Group, LLC ("ALG") entered into a groundbreaking joint venture agreement in October 2015. The venture, which operates under the ALG name, engages in all business aspects of artist brand management including licensing, branding strategy and merchandising. ALG provides artist and estate brand management services to Legacy Recordings and other front line SME labels while remaining open to opportunities outside the SME eco-system.

This new arrangement is the next step in Legacy's existing relationship with the Dean Martin Family Trust; in January 2014, Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, in partnership with the Dean Martin Family Trust, acquired the singer's legendary Reprise Records catalog and began remastering titles for a major ongoing reissue project. The Dean Martin Reprise catalog acquisition included all the recordings Dean made during his extraordinary creative tenure (1962-1974) at Rat Pack pal Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records label. The Nashville Sessions, the album Martin cut for Warner Bros in 1983, was also included.

I will hear Dean Martin sing and I will remember.

Hey pallies, recently our pallies at google sent us a Dino-'lert that directed us to the Brit blog pad of the "Penarth Times" when columnist Miss Alison Powell holds forth with her prose under the tag of "Penarth, the sea, life and me."  Alison's current joyful jottin's "The Tale in the Tune" accents how  "music is an integral part and punctuates, highlights and illustrates so many key moments in our lives."

Likes to illustrate her thesis, Miss Powell shares personal experiences with a trio of performers, the first of which is none other then our most beloved Dino.  As you will read below, hearin' our main man croon a tune always reminds Alison of her father and particular details of his birth.  This is 'nother excellent example of the many many times that ilovedinomartin has shared similiar tales of other pallies for whom hearin' our most beloved Dino sing brings back the sweetest of sweet memories of loved one....truly truly 'nother remarkable reminder of the touchin' 'n tender transformin' power of our Dino!

We sez our thank you very much to Miss Alison Powell and all the pallies at the "Penarth Times" for accentin' our one and only Dino in this wonderful way.  Below we share only a few brief paragraphs that directly relate to our Dino, but if you clicks on the tag of this Dino-gram, you will be able to read Miss Powell's text in full at the original site.  Dino-rememberin', DMP

The Tale in the Tune by Alison Powell

IT IS a well-trodden truism that tunes can tell a tale. Music forms the background and sometimes, the foreground to our lives.

Whether it is the song that was number one the day you were born; the first dance at your wedding; the theme to your favourite film or the playlist at your funeral; music is an integral part and punctuates, highlights and illustrates so many key moments in our lives.

It is evocative of time, place and person. If I hear Dean Martin sing I am instantly driving around the countryside where my dad was born, having various places of historical interest and the tiny house where he was born, pointed out to me.

I may roll my eyes, I may have heard it all countless times, but in years to come, when perhaps he will have passed, I will hear Dean Martin sing and I will remember.

On This Day In Dino-history: March 23, 1949

Hey pallies, likes today is 'nother memorable day in the life and times of our most beloved Dino. It was on this date, March 23, in the year of 1949 that our Dino's divorce to his first wife Elizabeth Anne McDonald was finalized.

The marriage had produced four prodigy for our Dino...Stephen Craig (born June 29, 1942), Claudia Dean ( born March 16, 1944), Barbara Gail (born April 11, 1945) and Deana (Dina) (born August 19, 1948).

The Dinos Together Singin' "Small Fry" on the Dino-show

Hey pallies, likes as yesterday was the 29th anniversary of the untimely death of our most beloved Dino's most beloved namesake boypallie Dino Jr., likes we thoughts it was 'bout time for ilovedinomartin to do a reprisin' of one of the greatest moments from the Dean Martin Variety Show....our Dino and his boypallie doin' such a cool croonin' rendition of "Small Fry" that aired on March 21, 1968 durin' season three of the Dino-show.

The love between father and son is crystal clear as these two terrifically talented singers share some fun patter back and forth...pallie to pallie...... We have always 'specially loved this cool conversation between father and son:

Dino:         Every parent starts wonderin' about this w hen his kids reach a certain age.
Dino Jr.:    I understand.
Dino:         Do you think I'm a square?
Dino Jr.:    Are you kidding?  All us hip kids think you are the hippest old person around.

It is truly truly bittersweet to watch father and son showin' such awesome adulation of each other when  knowin' now that our Dino's heart would be forever broken upon the tragic death of Dino Jr.  Likes pallies enjoy  these marvelously magical moments between the Dinos as share "Small Fry."

On This Day In Dino-history: March 21, 1987

Hey pallies, likes  it was 29 long years 'go on this day,  21 March 1987, our Dino's  most beloved boypallie, Captain Dino Jr., while pilotin' a Guard F-4 Phantom fighter jet for the California Air National Guard, crashed the plane in California's San Bernardino Mountains during a snowstorm. Dino Jr. and his Weapons System Officer, Ramon Ortiz, were both killed in the crash.  Truly it is the saddest and most somber day in the life of our most beloved Dino.

Likes his incredible Daddy-o, Dino Jr. was a renaissance man of extraordinary talents.....singer, actor, tennis pro, pilot. Dino Jr. was destined to become heir apparent to the throne of our King of Cool, but likes that was so so tragicly cut short by the crash of the jet on that darkest of dark days in the life of our Dino.

The demise of Dino Jr. began the demise of our Dino himself. Our great man simply lost the will to live without his prodigy by his side. Truth be told, probably the only man that our Dino looked up to was his beloved namesake Dino Jr.

Below is a picture of Dino Jr.'s gravesite and a bit of information on Dino Jr. and the location of the grave. We thanks the pad Seeing Stars for this picture and information. To checks this out in it's original format, as usual, just click on the tag of these Dino-reflections. Also included below is a brief footage  of the memorial service for Dino Jr.  Dino-sadly, DMP

We are guessin' that probably we will be treated to a published interview with Ricci before the show date, but for now we gets to enjoy sharin' 10 Dino-facts. 10 things you may not have known about Dean Martin as his son prepares to perform in Dartford

Dean Martin's son Ricci will perform his hits in Dartford

Dean Martin's son Ricci will perform his hits in Dartford

Jim Palmer, Leisure editor

In a career spanning six decades, Rat Pack singer Dean Martin performed to millions of fans worldwide and was a star of the cinema, television, radio and stage.

He died on Christmas Day in 1995 but since 2003, his youngest son Ricci has been travelling the globe keeping his father’s legacy alive under the name Dean Martin Jnr.

Ricci performs his father’s classic hits in a show loaded with music, personal photos and humorous anecdotes.

Ahead of his performance at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre on April 20, here’s 10 things you may not know about Dean Martin…

Dean Martin was born Dino Paul Crocetti in Ohio in 1917. His father Gaetano was an Italian barber.
Martin spoke only Italian until he started school aged five.

As a teenager, he fancied himself as an amateur boxer and had the name Kid Crochet.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis first performed together in Atlantic City in 1946 and it was such a disaster they nearly got sacked after the first show. They went on to make 17 films together over the following decade.

Martin has his own TV show – The Dean Martin Show – that ran for 264 episodes from 1965 to 1974. He famously only worked one day a week on the show and the cast had to rehearse with a stand-in.

He made more than 100 albums and recorded more than 600 songs.

Warner Bros. has plans to make a "Cannonball Run" reboot, with "Get Hard" director Etan Cohen writing and directing it, as Deadline reports.

The classic 1981 comedy and its sequel starred Burt Reynolds and an all-star cast playing characters who are competing in an illegal cross-country road race. Both films were big box-office hits, directed by "Smokey and the Bandit" director Hal Needham, and they featured the top stars in entertainment of their era: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Roger Moore, Jackie Chan, Dom DeLuise, Shirley MacLaine, and Merilu Henner, to name a few.

As Reynolds told Business Insider on Wednesday, that's just the trick to making the new "Cannonball" a success: casting as many big names as possible.

"You have to be able to get a lot of people nobody thinks you can get," he said. "That's what we really had fun doing, getting those people."

Reynolds, who's currently doing press for "The Bandit," looking back on the making of "Smokey and the Bandit" (it'll air on CMT later this year), said he hasn't been contacted to be in the"Cannonball" reboot. But he understands why Warner Bros. wants to make it.

"It made a lot of money," he said of the original franchise. "But you have to have fun. With Sinatra, we just let him have fun and then you just go with it. And he did have a good time [making the film]."

If the studio takes Reynolds' advice, it will be fun to see what A-list celebrities they're able to collect for the reboot.
